  • Downhill Skiing, Snow Boarding, and Cross Country Skiing

    Hastings is the midpoint between two major downhill ski areas in Minnesota. Afton Alps and Welch Village Ski Area both offer downhill ski slopes and snow boarding from beginners to experts. Visit their websites for hours, classes, and special events throughout the winter months

    Enjoy the scenic views on cross country trails around the Hastings area. Trails are located at Afton State Park, Spring Lake Park at Schaar's Bluff, and Cannon Valley Trail.

  • Snowshoeing

    Explore the peaceful winter wonderland in the St. Croix Valley while snowshoing at Carpenter Nature Center or Spring Lake Park throughout the winter months. Enjoy breathtaking views of the rivers and watch for birds and other creatures as you walk through snow covered trails. Snowshoe rentals available at Carpenter Nature Center with a minimum of 6 inches of snow. The cost for rental is $5.00 for 2 hours.

  • Ice Fishing

    Try your luck at Ice Fishing on Lake Rebecca this winter. Lake Rebecca is located on Lock and Dam Road adjacent to the Mississippi River in Hastings.

    Join Carpenter Nature Center and The City of Hastings Park and Recreation for special Family Ice Fishing events at Lake Rebecca this winter. Learn about ice safety, fish species and habitat, ice fishing gear and techniques, and more.

  • Winter Shopping and Dining

    Don't let the cold get you down this winter. Get out and shop in Historic Downtown Hastings for warm winter clothing and seasonal themed home décor you won't find anywhere else.  Minnesotans LOVE shopping in the snow and you will too!  Once you're shopping is complete relax at one of the many great restaurants on 2nd street or grab a local craft beer at Spiral Brewery.
